Who the fuck is Ernie?!

Hi, I'm Ernie! Well, not really. But kind of.
My name is Kana (which is Hawaiian and means Jan) and I founded a small business called ERNIE & SHIRT in the summer of 2025.
No, Ernie doesn't exist in person. Ernie is more of a spirit: Ernie is funny and cheeky, not always entirely conventional, but basically a nice guy and reliable.
I'm in charge of the designs, and my husband Percy does our advertising.

And why is your store called ERNIE & SHIRT?
When we were thinking about how to differentiate ourselves and stand out from other competitors as a small business, we needed a catchy name. If I read a completely boring website address on a car somewhere, it won't stick in my mind.
But our name reflects what we do: shirts. And Ernie is (as I just described) just a likeable guy. In our opinion, a name that clearly states that we are a small, friendly company that makes funny shirts.
The fact that ERNIE & SHIRT also has a certain sound similarity to two famous puppets from children's television is, of course, not entirely coincidental.

What do you do?
We offer various shirts, hoodies, and Christmas sweaters in our online shop.
We're also happy to create custom designs for you based on your wishes. And it doesn't always have to be a shirt: We have numerous suppliers who offer everything from phone cases to stickers to shoes. Just send us a non-binding inquiry; it's usually cheaper than you initially think!
 

Aren't there enough printed T-shirts already?
Yes, we haven't reinvented the wheel with our small shop, that's true. And of course, there are numerous suppliers of printed textiles. However, we rarely find the shirts we're looking for when shopping. That's how our idea for our small business was born: We simply couldn't find the shirts we wanted to wear. So we started designing them ourselves.

What sets you apart from others?
We don't do this full-time, but as a hobby, which is now registered as a small business. We won't get rich from it; we usually only earn a few euros per sale, but that's not what we're about: We simply want to offer good designs and are happy when they resonate.
 

Why should I buy from you?
It's important to us that we can offer our textiles with a clear conscience. Our shirts are manufactured under fair conditions and are not products from the Far East. They mostly come from Central America and are made from high-quality cotton. This keeps supply chains short and protects the environment.
Our products are only printed after your purchase. This avoids overproduction, which might eventually end up in the trash, and saves energy that a warehouse would consume for electricity and heating. Of course, this means your item won't be with you the next day, unless we happen to have it in stock. In that case, we'll be happy to deliver it to you personally within the 22926 and 22927 postal code areas.

Our products are printed by our printing partner in Germany, who also works for renowned fashion brands and performs thorough quality control before shipping. Therefore, production sometimes takes a day longer, but should also meet your and our expectations. We also have a great partner in Latvia, but due to the transport routes, we only use this partner for special items.
Our products are generally shipped without plastic packaging in recycled paper bags; we only deviate from this in rare cases when absolutely necessary. Shipping is usually free for you unless you select special requests at checkout.

Then you should definitely get to know us!
Our small business is properly registered, we have an official business license, and we're also registered with the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Naturally, we're subject to all applicable regulations. You'll find our address in our imprint, you'll see our faces in our photos, and we even offer our phone number for WhatsApp contact in our customer service. Amazon and the like don't offer that!
If you feel more comfortable, you can also buy our products on Etsy.com, which offers its own buyer protection. However, discounts or promotional codes that we offer here in our own shop don't apply there, as we pay sales fees there.
And if we do run off with your money, you'll find us somewhere on a beautiful beach with palm trees ;-)
